Booking a Tasker
How do I choose a Tasker?
After you describe the job and pick a time, you see every approved Tasker who does that service in your area and is free in that window. Each card shows their price for your job, jobs completed on Fixgent and reviews from real bookings. New Taskers are marked “New on Fixgent”.
What does the price include?
Routine jobs (servicing, installations, cleaning) have a fixed price: each Tasker sets their own, and you see their total for your job before you book. Faults start with a small inspection fee; the Tasker then sends a fixed repair price in the app, and the fee is taken off if you go ahead. You can make one counter-offer on any quote. Fixgent adds a 10% service fee on the labour (5% when you rebook a Tasker you've used before), which covers secure payment, support and the Fixgent Promise. Same-day bookings add 20%, which goes to the Tasker. Parts are added in the app with their price, and only if you approve.
What happens after I send a request?
Your Tasker has up to 4 hours (60 minutes for same-day jobs, or until the job starts if sooner) to accept. You get an email and an in-app update as soon as they respond. If they decline or don't respond, your answers are saved so you can pick someone else in a couple of taps. Nothing is charged until a Tasker accepts.
When and how do I pay?
Once your Tasker accepts, you pay online by card, bank transfer or USSD through Paystack. Fixgent holds the money until the job is marked complete. If you accept a repair price or approve extra work, you pay the balance in the app before the Tasker goes ahead.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel 24+ hours before the start for a full refund. Within 24 hours, 10% of the labour goes to the Tasker for keeping the slot, and the rest is refunded. If your Tasker cancels, you get a full refund. Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 3–10 working days.
What if something goes wrong?
Message your Tasker in the booking first — it keeps a record. If that doesn't solve it, tap Report a problem on the booking within 7 days. Under the Fixgent Promise we send your Tasker back to fix it or refund you, and the Tasker isn't paid while a report is open. You can also email support@fixgent.com with your work-order number (it starts with FX-).
Where is Fixgent available?
We're starting in parts of Lagos: Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Ikeja, Yaba, Surulere, Maryland, Magodo. Not on the list? Start a booking and tap “Somewhere else? Tell us” — we're adding areas where people ask for us.
Working as a Tasker
Does it cost anything to join?
No. Registering as a Tasker is free.
Who can become a Tasker?
Anyone 18 or older who lives in Lagos, has the skills for the services they offer, a valid government ID (NIN slip or National ID card, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card) and a Nigerian bank account in their own name.
How are Taskers checked?
Once your profile is complete, the Fixgent team has a short video call with you to check your ID and talk through your experience. You can take bookings once you're approved.
How do I get work?
You choose your services, set your prices (and an inspection fee for fault jobs), the areas you cover and the times you're available. Customers only see you when you're free for their chosen slot. Each request arrives by email and in your Tasker hub, and you accept or decline it. Same-day requests pay 20% more and need an answer within 60 minutes. For faults, you inspect first and send a fixed repair price in the app. If you find extra work on site, add it in the app — the customer approves it before you start.
How and when do I get paid?
Customers pay Fixgent online when you accept. Your earnings are paid to your bank account through Paystack 48 hours after you mark the job complete (longer if the customer reports a problem that's still being reviewed). During launch, Fixgent takes no commission — you keep 100% of your rate.
What happens to my personal information?
Fixgent doesn't store your ID number or bank details. Bank details are held by Paystack, our payment provider. Your ID is checked on a video call and we only record that it was verified — no copies are kept. Customers see your first name and last initial, photo, rates, reviews and — only after you accept their booking — your phone number.
Is there a Fixgent app?
The iOS and Android apps are being built. Until then, everything works on the website from your phone.
Ready when you are.
