Terms of Service
This is a draft under legal review. It describes how Fixgent works today and will be finalised before launch.
Draft for legal review — last updated 27 September 2026
1. What Fixgent is
Fixgent is a marketplace. Customers book independent service providers ("Taskers") for home repairs and related tasks. Taskers are not employees or agents of Fixgent; they set their own prices and decide which jobs to accept. Fixgent provides the platform, checks Taskers' identity before approval, collects payment, holds it until the job is done and pays Taskers.
2. Accounts
You must be 18 or older. Keep access to your email secure — we sign you in with one-time codes sent to it. You're responsible for activity on your account. You can ask us to close your account at any time.
3. Booking and prices (customers)
- You describe the job, choose an arrival window and pick an available Tasker.
- The Tasker has up to 4 hours to respond (60 minutes for same-day jobs, or until the job starts if sooner). If they decline or don't respond, the request ends and nothing is charged.
- Jobs are priced in one of three ways, shown before you book:
- Fixed price — the Tasker's price for the job you described.
- Inspection, then fixed repair price — for faults. You pay the Tasker's inspection fee. After diagnosing, the Tasker sends a fixed repair price in the app. If you accept, the inspection fee is taken off; if you decline, you pay only the inspection.
- Fixed quote — for larger jobs, the Tasker quotes after reading your request and photos. You pay only if you accept.
- You may make one counter-offer on any quote. The Tasker may accept it or keep their price.
- Fixgent adds a service fee on the labour (currently 10%; 5% when you rebook a Tasker you've used before). Same-day bookings add 20% to the labour, paid to the Tasker. Parts and materials are passed to the Tasker in full.
- You pay online after the Tasker accepts. Fixgent holds the payment until the job is marked complete.
- Extra work or parts found on site must be requested by the Tasker and approved by you in the app before the work is done. Work you haven't approved in the app is not payable through Fixgent and isn't covered by the Fixgent Promise.
4. Cancellation
- More than 24 hours before the start of the arrival window: full refund.
- Within 24 hours: 10% of the labour (one hour of the rate for hourly jobs) is paid to the Tasker for holding the slot; the rest is refunded.
- If the Tasker cancels: full refund.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 3–10 working days.
5. The Fixgent Promise
- Not done right: report it in the booking within 48 hours of completion and Fixgent will ask the Tasker to fix it free of charge or refund you, in part or in full. Between 48 hours and 7 days, the remedy is a free redo by the Tasker.
- No-show: if the Tasker hasn't arrived by the end of the arrival window (or the later time they gave by marking themselves as running late), report it and you'll be refunded in full.
- Property damage: report it within 7 days with photos. Fixgent will review the booking and mediate between you and the Tasker, and holds the Tasker's payment while the report is open. [Lawyer: cash cover pending insurance.]
- Not covered: work or payments made outside Fixgent, parts you supplied, existing faults, and reports made after the deadlines above.
- Fixgent decides each report using the booking record (chat, photos, times). This promise doesn't limit your rights under Nigerian consumer law.
6. Taskers
- Registration is free. During the launch period Fixgent charges Taskers no commission; any future commission will be announced at least 30 days in advance.
- You must pass an ID check and interview, keep your prices and availability accurate, and only accept jobs you're qualified and equipped to do.
- You must arrive within the arrival window, or use "running late" to give the customer a new time. Repeated no-shows or cancellations lead to suspension.
- Extra work or parts must be approved by the customer in the app first.
- You are responsible for your own taxes, tools, and compliance with any licensing rules for your trade.
- Earnings are paid to your verified bank account through Paystack 48 hours after the job is completed and paid, unless a problem has been reported. If Fixgent refunds a customer for your work after you've been paid, Fixgent may deduct that amount from your future earnings.
7. Conduct
Keep communication and payment for Fixgent bookings on Fixgent. No harassment, discrimination, fake reviews or misuse of personal information. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
8. Problems and disputes
Use "Report a problem" on the booking, or contact Fixgent support with your work-order number (FX-…). Fixgent will review the booking record and respond, usually within 24 hours.
9. Liability
[Lawyer to draft: limitation of liability consistent with the FCCPA.]
10. Changes
We'll notify you of material changes by email or in the app before they take effect.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. [Lawyer: confirm.]
